Well unless you have a bad stick of ram I am looking for applications that will either change the ram available for the video driver/CUDA or effect the video driver such as a monitor color control application. Shut down any items in the task bar that you can. Go to search and type msconfig. Then select the startup tab. Uncheck anything that is not Adobe, Nvidia, or audio device. Hit Apply and then ok. restart the system and then see. If that doesn’t work then download this: https://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip
Burn that ISO to disc and then reboot to the disc. Let that test for atleast 1 complete pass through all 9 tests. That should rule the ram out. Beyond that I would need to remote in and see what is going on.

The new 960GB Crucial drives are actually very affordable compared to what previous SSD drives have released at. I have a client’s system that is getting upgraded with 4 of them in raid 5 benching at 1.8GB/s to 3GB/s depending on the size of files used. That is far cheaper than a large mechanical SAS array that would give the same speed.

You selected Render the Max Depth under the video tab on the export options? Others have done this with an ATI card and it worked. What ATI driver are you using?

MPEG encoding requires conservable processing through the CPU pipeline and memory management for repeated use of data. When ever you have crashing specific to those exports, its CPU or ram. In this case the CPU voltage was to low at load which is harder to see in today’s platforms because of all of the power management and cpu state changes.

Yes that definitely sounds like the performance peak of that Imac. You might try 16GB of ram but the CPU will limit you. I cant speak about question you reference since that is outside of Apple’s licensing. I can say that PC hardware has far better options right now especially with the X79 platform and or new Haswell platform. The X79 would be the best solution followed by Haswell if the budget is more limited. If Multicam work is your predominant workflow, make sure you look at 32GB of ram and a 760GTX or higher video card.

Select Max Bit rate and Max quality in your export options. That should clear up the export with Hardware MPE.

Go into your Sequence settings and check the Max Bit Rate and Max Quality under Preview settings. See if that resolves the effect previews.

I am completely aware that they worked before the incident. That doesn’t mean you don’t rule out variables. The short fix to this is Re-install Adobe and or then the OS, testing in that order since the Restore points are not available. I am simply attempting to isolate versus the extreme. If time is more important then proceed with the Re-installs. Right now it’s looking like some application or something is grabbing ram in the range the MPE engine/video driver requires it. When you add a second display then that will change the ram allocation for player/hardware MPE. Have you tried Scanning with this yet?

What Sequence settings are you using with this project? What happens if you import a sequence from that project into a DSLR 1080 sequence?
