Go in Effects window, under “Video Effects”, find “Transform” and under “Transform” there is “Crop”. Drag and drop “Crop” effect onto your clip and with your clip selected go in Effect control and slide the “top” and “bottom” as much as you want your letterbox to be. To save time, you can right click these “crop” settings and select save preset and they will appear under “Presets” in Effects window. From there you can drag your preset and drop it onto the rest of your clips in the timeline…

I’m aware of the workaround method, but the fades just don’t look as good and you don’t have as much control over them. This is a real bug.

Do you use additive or cross dissolve in your workarounds?

Hello.

a) Yes, Premiere Pro 2.0

b) This is not an option. I captured everything with the cineform codec and I’ve edited everything with it because I had to due to the heavy process of the Premiere HD. And anyway, the fade-outs are visible with the cineform codec on my timeline, it is when I export my timeline to MPEG2 with the Adobe Media Encoder that I loose my fade-outs.

Nobody has any thoughts on this one? Is it so “by default” that the playback display is worse on 2.0 than 1.5?

P.S.
I’ve tried to build my DVD and the video looks very good once it’s burned.
I’ve also tried the so-called “high quality playback” option in preferences. No luck.
