Being so fresh out of college I would recommend you also look to find a workplace that offers you the opportunity to be mentored by an experienced Editor that not only teaches you the technical side of the house but also how to handle the politics of dealing with customers, other employees and agencies/studios.
If you have to rough it at a low rate but work with somebody who is willing to share their knowledge with you, that is 10 times worth it in the long run. IMHO.

Go to your local (biggest) rental house and ask for a job. If you work at a rental house you will get your hands on every camera on the planet, play with them and get paid for it. Also you will meet all the top camera people in the area which can lead to other job opportunities.
On set pay absolute attention to what is going on around you. Listen closely and in time start approaching people about more advice+job opportunities.
A lot of people I hire started that way. Just my 2c.

November 26, 2012 at 3:57 pm in reply to: How to achieve consistent look with multiple videographers (and cameras)Here is how we approach this:
-We hire “qualified” contractors with the identical equipment. With all the rental houses it is very easy for them to get the same gear.
-We have our DIT create a master look file and email to each OP to customize their cameras. (Resolution, Frame rate, F-stop, Gamma Curves, Lens shading data etc…)
-We do a master interview, draw lighting diagrams and send them a sample video for consistent look.
-We storyboard the interviews for alignment and placement in the video and provide schedules to each crew. (Lets say bad guys look left, good guys look right).
So in a nutshell we get extremely detailed about the look and feel. While using same crews might be optimal it is possible to create a very consistent look with multiple shooters.
Hope this helps,

“Video is what the eye sees(60i), Film is what the mind sees(24P)” has been my thought process. While I will try to see the HOBBIT HFR, I am preparing to be severly disspointed. Any movie I have ever watched on 60-120hz TV has looked horrible.
Who knows maybe I will be proven wrong and will fall in love with it???

We just got the 5 foot Kessler, quality was much higher than anticipated. Fast set up, versatility, I would definitely recommend it.
Of course if you can afford it, buy this:

Thanks, I’ll check the audio settings. Both the card were imported simultaneously so the setting were the same.

Using After Effects (keylight) you can key through transparent objects and keep their detail on them. Based on the backdrop you are using in AE you can recomposite the textures or reflections back into the glass.
Here is a tutorial on how to keep textures of transparent subject in the keying detail:

Hope this helps
