Thanks guys. Yes I realise this can be done in camera which is obviously much better and more rewarding, but I wanted to replicate that particular type of hot circular flare as seen in the photo.

Thanks for the link. I will see if i can get a trial with this mFlare to see if it will do the trick!

Ah that’s exactly what I need. Thank you! I’ve been looking for this for a while.

Sorry be adding more but another issue in the same group. Although Some shots with the Smoothcam filter work just fine and some have the over vibration when its trying to compensate for the footsteps, any shot that i export with the apple smoothcam is jittery with what looks like some strange interlacing of the video. Ive read other people with this problem but can seem to find an answer. If anyone knows one or somewhere on the internet that there is I really like to know of it!

Another things that’s quite annoying is not option to feather one side. I tried the mask shape/feather but that only seems feather top/bottom or left/right. Any plug-ins around for FCP7 that allow this? I tried Andy’s Simple Crop but the feather doesn’t work.

I managed to get the 4-point Matte method working but as I’m doing a type of wipe form one shot to the next when someone walks past the camera for example, the 4-point matte is a little tricky to do.

This is actually perfect Mato, thank you!

I will still practice with Teds method to see if I can replicate this look with a couple tutorials. After Effects is a great program going to have to use it more often.

    Thank you guys!

Right now this is what I see. Been playing around with it but cant seem to keep those same masks on top of the video file. Sorry, new to AE! Enjoying it though.

Also if i want to change the resolution to the size the video ill be which is 1080 do i just change comp settings? Nothing else?

Hi guys, thanks for the help.

Yes, the shot had NO motion.

So before I saw this I had a go at making a fog effect from a tutorial and layered it a couple times 3-dimentionally to get the desired effect somewhat. Then I used Photoshop to cut out the lamppost as I didn’t know how to do it in AE and masked the lower sections/trumpeter. Kind of worked for the first test and first time using AE but still looks quite fake if looked at closely. I will try again with the method you proposed Ted (even if its just for learning purposes).

Thanks for the comp Mato looks really good in the screen shot. A lot more depth perception than my initial tests. Only problem is I’m having trouble changing the screenshot files for my video file. If you wouldn’t mind telling me how to do that so I can check it out. Hardly used AE since now.

No, its in a fixed position.

I managed to get quite far in AE as motion seems to be quite slow on my mac which was stressful. I basically made a fog effect using a noise effect then copied a couple times. Then I masked out the bottom part and the trumpeter. I cut the lamppost in Photoshop and layered that over the fog. Working pretty well and now just adjusting the fog effect/color to get the desired effect.

Does motion have a simpler/better method than this?
