    Hi, thanks for the replys.

Great that sorted it. Changing the whole Audacity project settings to 48Khz and exporting didn’t change the speed (as it would do when I changed them individually for some reason) and also settings it to 24-bit. Then re-importing to FCP with all the corresponding FCP project settings set at the start and its all good.

Thanks, that was a lot simpler than I thought 🙂

    Hi thanks for the reply.

If both these images are loaded up at fullscreen and you flick across from one and the other, does it not seem like quite a drastic change? The quality image is from the compressed file i am uploading

Is this much change normal for youtube?

Still seems to have a lot of artifacts and blockyness even using a completely uncompressed file then compressing using AME to H.264 at 50,000kbps.

Any help would be great. latest version below.

I couldn’t seem to make compressor read XML files and neither does MPEG Streamclip so I will download the Adobe encoder and and try with that.

Thanks a lot guys hopefully it should sort me out!

    Hi thanks for replies.

So can I use Adobe to transcode the files and then use them in FCP7?

    Hi thanks for the reply.

I need to send a master copy of a music video so it can be promoted on various websites/TV channels. I believe they are going to do a couple things to it (broadcast safe, add chyron/lower third, etc) so it really does have to be ProRes to keep maximum quality after they have done their business to it.

There preference is ProRes and under 2GB so I was trying to meet that request. I really want to keep maximum quality so I will try 720p and apparently it will be re-sized mostly. If it comes a little over 2GB it will just have to do as to bring it to LT and lose quality over file size seems like a waste to me.

Hi thanks for reply. I will have a read of the article.

Yes I understand all that and have been using H.264 but I wanted to know. If the file size is just under 2GB will that take longer to load/stream for some users? Would it be better to go for a 20,000kbits/s to get about a 500mb file and trade off a small amount of quality of streaming quality? Or the fact that it is just under 2GB doesn’t really matter.

Also, does teh Streaming option have more advantages over disadvantages, quality wise? I read somewhere that it can effect parts in the video that have a lot of motion, does anyone know if that is true?

I ended up sending it straight to DVD Studio Pro which did the compression fine. Not sure why Compressor gave trouble with this one

In addition i seem to be getting a little bug which i cant figure out why. On the FCP timeline everything is fine, all the clips look exactly how i want them and everything is on the lowest possible video track. However when i send it to Compressor at the same point during the video the screen goes black for about 1/2 a second. It is even shown in the actual Compressor preview. Its even fine is i export form FCP.

    What could be causing this?
