I know that DV Kitchen also has a WMV feature. I have been playing with the Demo but haven’t tried it yet.
DV Kitchen is a very slick program.

Did you try multiple monitors on the affected setup?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback and tips! They will all be useful. I just watched Shane Ross’s video on Getting Organized in Final Cut and he has a tip for putting a space before the bin name that I think will work great for now. If I just put a space before all Bin names then all my bins will always be at the top. This is the same as Walter’s suggestion in essence.
Cheers,
Elijah

Thanks for chiming in Kevin. I will get your course after I finish my current ones. I also just ordered the course catalog from Video Symphony in CA. Is there a similar school out here in New York that is highly recommended? I wouldn’t mind taking some night classes for some real life classes in NY.
So far I have ordered the following:
Steve Martin/Ripple Training: DVD Studio Pro
Steve MartinRipple Training: Final Cut Pro: Getting Started,
Shane Ross/Creative Cow: – FCP Getting Organized
Barry Green: Sound for film and television
Doug Jensen: How to setup, light and shoot great looking interviewsI watched Shane’s video last night and I am definitely gonna have to watch that one more than once, I really liked it too, it was interesting how he had no quams about duplicating media files just so organization would be easier. It was something I had always had a conflict with and was thinking of using a tagging system instead but am now considering following in suit of Shane.
I also finished Steve Martin’s DVD Studio Pro and produced a DVD already but would like to learn more advanced techniques from Noah’s course, DVD Studio Pro: Special Edition.
Anyways, thanks for explaining that your course is effective for all versions as I will definitely be purchasing it too!

You can rewrap them with Mpeg Streamclip. I forget exact method but I did it to a bunch of clips that I shot with a Firestore FS4-HD and had it set to AVI type 2 and actually needed Quicktime.
Although it is odd, I have been playing with some stock footage I purchased from Footage Firm and it is all in AVI format and after the message FCP gives me the footage works great in the timeline.

Well, I guess they follow the same lead as Apple’s finder too. Because you can’t sort all folders at the top in finder either and after 10 years on a Windows box it is just part of the workflow.
It wouldn’t hurt to have the option available. It would help a lot of people transitioning from the Windows world. Ubuntu offers this too.

Can you post some names of these higher end probes?
I am curious now 🙂

There is a product called Spyder3 Pro that I have on my wish list. If you have the budget you may want to look into it. The whole Spyder 3 combo with printer calibration is around $600 or so I believe.
A normal CRT TV monitor will not give you much control for calibration.
I am not very proficient at calibrating my own monitors and lcd’s yet. My 28″ Hanns-G doesn’t even appear to have much room for calibration. I use it strictly for the workspace it offers.
But Walter has it right when he says “these are key”. I may not know how to do it yet but all work will be fruitless until they are calibrated.

Well that is a bummer. I would call that a bug.
Thanks for confirming it though. I spent at least 30 minutes off and on the past few weeks trying to figure out how to put the bins at the top since I thought it was so obvious a feature it “must” be there.
Hopefully Apple can fix this.
Cheers,
Elijah
