It’s not impossible – just extremely slow. That’s the #1 complaint about using Magic Bullet.

Are you talking one loop region or several? If you want several loop regions, the Extract Good Clips tool could be very useful.
As for trimming one second off the front an back of a clip, that would be a fairly simple script. I had one for Vegas 4 that would chop x frames off the front. It wouldn’t take much to modify to work in Vegas 5 and 6 and chop off the front AND back.

If you want to do it all in a single pass, Excalibur can handle up to 25 cameras at once. Then you wouldn’t need any intermediate renders.

If you’re getting audio 4-pin to 4-pin, there’s no reason why you shoudn’t get audio 6-pin to 4-pin. One possibility would be a bad firewire cable?

You saved a PROJECT as “footage.avi”??? Should that not have been “footage.VEG”?
If you wanted a single file, it would have been preferable to capture with Scene Detect turned off. At this point if I wanted a single AVI – instead of using a nested VEG I think I would have simply rendered to a single AVI file and deleted the individual pieces.
What I would REALLY do at this point is to simply add the clips to the timeline (as you have), mark the pieces I wanted to keep using regions on the timeline, and use the “Extract Good Clips” tool in Excalibur. Then I would delete the original pieces from the timeline.

I’m using an epson 960. That one’s no longer made but the R200 and R300 took its place. I’ve also used a Signature III dedicated printer with an auto feeder. If you have a BUNCH to print, something like that is a reasonable option. I like the look from the Epson better, though. There’s also some thermal printers available.
