In order to change shutter speeds from degrees to fractions of a second on the Vari-Cam you have to be in the Video Rec Mode. Film Mode displays as degrees.

Abel Cine tech has a scene file converter for converting “F” series files to “H” or vice versa. I beleive it’s available in PC or mac versions. Mine is Mac.

You can connect as many as you want, but it leaves room for a faulty connection or the occasional “air gap”. Why not by a 50′?

If you use a dark background with a dark complected person, you would you not lose contrast? Try bringing up your gamma levels or the black stretch.

You could clip it directly on his tie. Also tape the tie down with gaff tape. Another option, hide the mic in the knot of his tie. Just because he is a CEO, does not mean you should feel intimated to talk to him. Inform him of the problem you are having with his tie brushing the lav. Most CEOS ( and I’ve hung or hid mics on a lot of top end auto execs here in Detroit) like to know if they sound or look good or bad. They are very image conscious. He is trusting you to make him sound good. Sometimes the hardest thing in dealing with CEOs is the junior executive ass kissers that are applying the pressure on the crew for no reason other than they think it makes them look in charge.
Boom mic is good option, but not for a talk show, unless you have dedicated boom op(s).edward chick

Actually this is the first I have ever heard of such a filter. How does it compare to the tried and true methods? No excusing necessary:)

Also, try Undercovers and Overcovers by Rycote. Available through trew audio and the like. Come in packs of 18. Undercovers are double side sticky mounts and overcovers are furry windscreen type covers for most lavs.

I use moleskin exclusively for all of my lavaliere mic apps. It works great to hide mics under clothing, a lot stickier than g tape and can be used as a windscreen. You simply cut a small piece,put it over the mic and attach it underneath shirt or undershirt. If it sounds too muffled, simply make a little “gap” when attaching to the garment.
