  • Can you daisy-chain XLR cables?

Posted by Jeremy Wiles on March 29, 2007 at 6:01 pm

I’m trying to run a long enough cable to my boom mic from my camera. Is it possible to connect two 18 foot xlr cables to make one long cable, or does this somehow effect the audio?

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

You can connect virtually as many as you like, end-to-end.

You can connect as many as you want, but it leaves room for a faulty connection or the occasional “air gap”. Why not by a 50′?

    Please.

Do we have to discuss the possible “horrors” of hooking two CABLES together?

Heck, he might TRIP over the extra length of the 50-footer… better get a 40.

    😉

    I was thinking more of a 39.5:)

I have a 39.6 for sale. Close enough? It was longer (50′) but someone tripped over the extra length and we had to shorten it up.

Provided that someone hasn’t gotten “creative” with how the plugs are wired of the cables you should be fine.
