Not sure if I’m in the right forum. If not, maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

I’m searching for the size of the SDX 900’s CCD. Everywhere I look, I get 2/3″. Is that diagonal or horizontal? I need those vertical and horizontal dimensions.

I’m trying to motion track some tricky footage right now. This information is more valuable to me than anyone can imagine.

    Thanks – SGM.

Go to the panasonic website and download the manual.

    The manual says 2/3″. Useless.

    Thanks anyway.

Perhaps you could describe the exact category of data you’re looking for so we can point you in the correct direction. 2/3″ is pretty descriptive of the size of the chips.

If a CCD has a rectangular shape, what PART of that rectangle measures 2/3″?

    a) The width?
    b) The height?
    c) The hypotenuse?

That’s all I’m looking for. Nothing more. I’d be forever grateful if someone could answer this. I’ve called every Panasonic dealer in town, and no one seems to know.

Thanks for the help – S.

To the best of my knowledge 1/3″, 1/2″, & 2/3″ refer to the diagonal measure across the imaging CCD.

Kind of like talking about 17″ monitors, etc.

Thanks. I’ll try to get confirmation on that because I have a lot riding on it.

I have a SDX900E PAL (It’s also for sale if anyone’s interested) The CCD is 600,000 pixels and it is this PAL chip that is being used in the new HPX500 with some mods. I’m not sure about the NTSC version of the SDX but I think it is 520,000 pixels.

So intriguing- perhaps you could describe why this is such critical info- we might be able to help you with other data. Are you trying to build an adapter for lenses of some sort?

Hello Peter, are you thinking about going red?

[jan von krogh] “Hello Peter, are you thinking about going red?”

No, it’s a little left of field for me for everyday use. Great for music clips, commercials and indies. I need something more conventional for my work, plus I have a $45K HD 2/3″ lens which suits EFP work.
