He seems a lot more optimistic than he was at the boston supermeet when he described the exchange of letters between him and Apple. He even questioned the reliability of apple as a pro plataform. So, there you go, did he asked to be interviewed to mend things with apple? hahaha.
But yeah… seriously… maybe in 4 years Fcpx will be good enough but it doesn’t pay my bills the way it is now.
And someone has to tell Mr. Murch that real video monitoring was not fixed on the last patch. He made the mistake twice now. -
Well, you know, numbera are great but it all gets down to image quality and being reliable and pratical.
I really like red but they are kinda clunky and crashy. It’s no surprise that everyone and their brothers are using alexas. They are a good comprimise… having all the geeky quality doesn’t translate into good stories. I see people siregarding even the raw part of alexa.I guess we need to wait for the tests to begin with and then make our own conclusions.

the webminar was such a lame thing. They managed to show NO Ui in 30 mins..gosh…. at leat the update is good and will get improved with time. The chat with the developers, which i think one can still read on their forums is quite good tho.

Will my settings work? Or do I have to start from scratch and rebuild?
The good thing about MC6 is that they will be XML so you won’t have any problems with them anymore because they are future-proof. And developers can actually dig into it to do some crazy stuff.
Can I link stereo audio tracks yet?
You can add stereo tracks since version 5. And you can use the modify clip tool to change them to a linked stereo pair since v5 as well.E.

Not everything was converted to 64-bit so I guess you can still use them. They made a base layer they can build on.

hmmm. They have “tabs” now at the window level and you can change the tabs into new windows etc like you would do with an adobe soft. It looks sleek and we didn’t loose any of our previous features :]

There was a chat with the developers just after the webminar.
They told us that they are looking at 24 tracks. With the new 64-bit architecture they can push to a lot more than they have, but they are still developing it and testing.I guess the basic hardwork of 64-bit is done, and now they can add features to really use all that power.
Still, great update. New engine without changing any of the features we have.

Best answer ever regarding FCP vs Avid.
I’m a graphic designer by background experience, so FCP always felt easier. Once I spent 2 years in a cinema course, starting with the good old flatbed steenbeck, I realised how better avid was. It’s just like he says. Everyone has some kind of experience with photoshopt, layers etc but it is not the best way to feel the rhythm of a cut.

I’m more excited with the lightworks news to be honest. Really good news. Hardware independence, pc, osx and Linux. That’s the future not the magnetic timeline.

I’m so excited about this. It will be the first time in my life that I will be able to afford an actual phone support contract. Imagine being even hardware independent. Great. Even tho there is no Mac version yet, I think I will become a member of this They support my matrox!!! We need to support this initiative, really.
