Well, i dont know of tephd, maybe its an old name for hdlog? i have been getting a lot of attention from dan, only that we keep finding out it’s ‘not my fault’ but this bug or another. my main issue is, it does something wrong with the tc, so i cant capture logs. there is a ‘hidden’ field- Media Start & End, which should be the same as TC In / Out, but the app sets it to 00:00:00:00 Start and TC Out as Media End value.

I have been using TEpX by imagineproducts, its for windows, and hdlog also by imagine. it sort of works, but i am having a VERY bad time with the osx version, HDlog v6.

without going into details (but we can if you want), i am unhappy with imagine, and we are now looking into Pilotware.

if you do intend on getting involved with TEpX or HDlog, i would suggest you insist on getting a demo, to see how it plays with your setup

January 5, 2009 at 12:41 pm in reply to: Abnormally slow FCP problem

had the exact same issue, but was solved by trashing the cache folders.

    1. Trash Prefs, using this tool
    2. Locate the folder “Final Cut Pro Documents”, should be on your scratch disc.
    3. Inside it, locate the thumbnail and waveform cache folders, and trash them.
    4. Empty the trash.
You should be good to go. if things still arent working out for you, use this tool to remove FCS and do a clean install.

    my solution and tools used can be found here, at the bottom of the post;

January 5, 2009 at 12:36 pm in reply to: i click on the FCP icon, nothing happens

I just made a post on fixing some issues with FCP on 10.5.6. https://www.uncarvedblog.com/files/17e6d3fd887301579e655aa7cb9d7b3e-37.php
Maybe it can help you too.
    look towards the bottom of the post, you can find links to these tools;
    PrefTrasher
    FCS Remover
basically, you need to trash Prefs (use PrefTrasher), and the cache folders (thumbnail, waveform), mostly it works.
if not, and you have to re-install, use FCS remover (many folders are strewn across the System, very hard to do manually).
    it solved my issues.
before re-installing, try in a diffrent user account, safe boot, permissions etc. (surly you already did that…)
    hope it works

January 5, 2009 at 12:17 pm in reply to: Drivers 6.0.2

I am having some problems after updating to 6.0.2NDD and Os X.5.6,
    1. i am bitten by the sleep-mouse issue (bizzaro-mouse on wake from sleep)
2.if not using NDD, Quartz Extreme gets disabled

some people think aja’s driver might have something to do with this problem (imho, its apples problem. seems widespread), so i wanted to see if any aja users have the same problems

FCP would take 1-2 minutes to launch, instead of 5-10 sec., until i trashed all cache folders and Pref files. this might be due to the x.5.6 (combo) and not 6.0.2NDD

    anyone had the similar issues?

January 4, 2009 at 10:46 am in reply to: FCS 2 + Leopard not getting along

Hi, I have similar problem, which i suspect are related to the x.5.6 update. since the update, i have the mouse issue (https://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8739409#8739409 )
and FCP hangs during launch. other FCS2 apps are not effected.
tried removing FCS2, re-install did not solve this.

can anyone else correlate x.5.6 and FCP issues?

November 24, 2008 at 5:48 pm in reply to: Nvidia GEForce 8800 no workie with FCP !

    Hi all,
I had the same problem, my gt8800 shows up as quartz extreme not supported. Super sluggish windows, sluggish scrolling etc. this started after installing the AJA board. (with default driver 5.1)
But, problem solved by updating the AJA LHe driver\utility to 6.0.1.
FCP is now very fast, loads in seconds (updated to 6.0.5).
I hope all our problems are solved (until next time…)

btw, does anyone know of a way to check for such conflicts? i got no indication from os x \ aja conflict test or any other util. app.

April 13, 2008 at 3:31 pm in reply to: kona or multibridge

ּHi Walter, thanks for the fast reply.
i tried to understand what is the difference between multibridge and kona + box.
i am going to use this for capturing 10/12 bit uncompressed sdi . not too much output to tape.
was planing on using the edirol vc300 for conversions (pal<>ntsc mostly)
do you know of any good comparison between aja and bmd? i cant get these things here for testing, so i have to read reviews and trust my luck.

  • Hi
the bin has a limit of 999 items for any given reel, or 9999 total items.
the omfi dir limit is also 9999 (or 10,000, depends who is counting).
what we usually do is hide omfi dirs, or split them on 2 different drives (in my case, partitions on FC NAS).
i couldnt find any proof for the numbers i quote, but from my experience these are the limits. when you cross them *strange things* will happen, like avid’s mdb will add a ‘+’ before the files and the clips will appear off-line. try splitting, or using FCP 🙂
