I lumped h.263 into the MPEG-4 camp in the sentence by mistake. What I was trying to get at is that H.263 is an option in Squeeze and when I mentioned H.264 I didn’t want him to mistakenly be choosing H.263 (which is an IP delivery compression scheme, but not a very good one).

I may not be able to help much but…… EVDO can support up to 3.1Mbits (Rev0 can do 2.4). So why send at 512k? When you say MPEG-4, do you mean high quality H.264 or the lesser quality H263? And lastly, Squeeze isn’t your only choice, ProCoder is a very good option. For regular web based video (using progressive download) I use 700kbps as my standard now. So even if you stay conservative, you can increase your data rate substantially. Are you just trying to send video for broadcast, but not trying to stream it directly from your EVDO connection? if so, you can increase the data rate substantially. My apologies if I’m misunderstanding what you’re trying to do.

Sorry, I didn’t see the AE CS3 tag (and I see you added the PPCS3 just on your last post!). But I should have gotten a clue when I saw XP. 🙂
Why aren’t you exporting directly to Flash from CS3? The ON2VP6 codec is included in the Export to Adobe Encoder.
Why are you going to Squeeze, do you like the extra step, or do you think the quality is better?

You have 2 ways to export to QT from FCP. The 1st one is to Export to QuickTime (either selecting Save As Self-Contined, or as a reference QT), the 2nd way is to Export To QT Using Conversion. Choose the 1st way and use Current Settings and you’re exporting in the same codec you edited in. All the sizing and deinterlacing is done in Squeeze.

I export a QT using current settings (not scaling it or putting it into the Animation codec or deinterlacing), so I get a full resolution QT. Bring that into Squeeze and apply size, deinterlace, etc. there, et voilà !. What .flv codec are you using in Squeeze (and what version of Squeeze)? You should be using the ON2VP6 codec. If you don’t have that you should get the option or update Squeeze. Flash quality won’t be good without ON2VP6.

I’m shure I can have better quality with less big files.Personnaly I prefere use flv format for the web, there is less

And we edit lots of stuff in HDV with no problem. All the posts here on the COW show just how varied the points of view are. There are some good reasons to edit in 4:2:2, but if you’re not doing lots of graphics, and you have the time for rendering at the end, HDV works fine. We bring the footage in FW from a JVC HD-110 and edit away. At the end we conform it. If you were doing tons of very deadline intense editing, that rendering at the end may take too long for you.

Ditto what everyone said. And also…. if the editor really meant *no* scopes, then find another editor, quick! If they meant no additional scopes, they’ll use the ones in FCP, then maybe keep him. 🙂
Seasoned editor you say? …..any ediotr worth his salt will use scopes.

I meant QT 7.1.6. Read all of the requirements, not just the graphics card.

Ed[Bruce Stubblefield] “ng a project shot on Mini-DV NTSC; Trying to use a G4 Dual Processor as a second machine (have an 8-core for more advanced tasks). Trying to install Final Cut Studio 2 on the G4 1.42 GHZ Dual, OS 10.4.11 with 2GB RAM and a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Graphics card, and lots of room on the drives.
On inspection, the installer says: “The installed graphics card does not support the Open GL features recommended by Final Cut Studio installer.” (hardware listed detailed below.) It goes ahead and installs anyway, but crashes instantly when I open it.
Any ideas? Does anyone know what kind of AGP card that will work in this G4 that will satisfy the installer?
