A good test for project integrity is to rename the folder(s) that conatain the source footage, effectively hiding them from PPro. Now when you open your project in PPro, select “offline all” when prompted for the new location.

Does the project succeed in loading?

If yes, then you do not have a corrupt project, but one of the clips is the source of the problem.

If no then see FAQ:How do I recover a corrupt project?

Uninstalling PPro will not touch your project files or source clips. You will not lose your work by the uninstall/install process.

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.
