Hi we r newbies. Been encoding CS4 video but had artifacts, which we thought might have been due to effects not being rendered. Tried to render, rendering not working at all; no progress on display; no time elapsed, no disc space info.

Read that this prob associated with conflict with CS3 on system so removed APP1 (which we had upgraded from). Now we can’t encode – error message – cannot read from source etc. – have not moved source files. Re installed APP1 – error message does not come up right away now but does so after abt 5 min. Hav rebooted a few times. Note we initially imported this video from APP1 into CS4.

Read abt similar problem resolved by complete reinstall.

The Q is this: if we remove both APP1 and CS4 and reinstall the latter, will we ever find our files again? ie. will the new install automatically go to the same folders or does this program have a find/link file system? Note video still in time line and plays in program window, unlike the time we did move the original file …

    grateful 4 any assistance

Uninstalling PPro will not touch your project files or source clips. You will not lose your work by the uninstall/install process.

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

    Cheers

Thanks Eddie, sorted – rendring and encoding, too much fun.
