Hi Tom,
This seems odd. I have mine set-up so the media cache/prefs etc are all on my Mac hard drive, which should surely be faster than any external drive. Still I get the stutters and in bigger projects awful handling unless I render everything.
Could this just be a graphics card issue – mine isn’t on the ‘recommended’ list, but Adobe have told me it should be adequate. But like Brian, I was expecting CS6 to be, well, blazing fast, as we were promised…

I think I know a guy who knows the guy that designed this. We were chatting about something that sounded remarkably like this looks on a shoot recently.
As I recall, he said the guy designed it himself and then sold it to Arri… Presumably they’re not making it commercially yet though or we’d all know what it was!
That’s not particularly helpful, I realise!

Will be nicking that for our little studio set up, I’m sure!

We’re doing this with an app demo video right now. It’s a pain in the ass to be honest!
We use the screen replacement method. Otherwise, you’ve got the added problem of the touch screen becoming a giant mirror!
We’re also using a still image of the hand holding the phone, and have recorded a series of swipes and taps from the other hand over a green screen with the device screen marked out on it.
Yes, there’s a lot of compositing, (or ‘composting’ as your typo suggests! he-he!), but the end result should look a lot cleaner.
If you look at the Apple app ads, the hand holding the phone is 100% perfectly still – to the extent that it has to be either a model hand or a still image. Interestingly though, the right hand still casts a shadow on it as it taps and swipes the screen. I’d like to know how they’re doing it!

Thanks Chris, I was hoping to do it without masks, but I guess that’s wishful thinking!
I’ve had a good result using a power mask in Magic Bullet’s Colorista over the offending bits… A bit of rotoscoping may be in order if his arm crosses over but no biggie I guess!

I do have a bit of time, but if it means removing it frame by frame I’m not sure the budget quite justifies it.
It’s on a tracking shot, but I’m wondering if a cheeky bit of photoshop work might suffice…

Cheers, but we ended up finding a fix – none of the distort tools were working but fortunately we were able to cut a couple of inches off the front forks and push the front wheel up closer to the bike’s handlebars. Voila, a nice big wheelie!
