Thank you for all the feedback. Apparently, I did not use the proper description. The type of editing I am referring to is called “Storyboard Editing”. You select the clips you want to use in the browser–viewed as icons instead of lists. You drag them into your timeline or canvas and it lays out your edit for you. A friend of mine just took a three day FCP course and got the answer for me.

Thanks for all of the advice. I downloaded the demo for PanZoomPro. I will take a look at it and see how I like it.
