  • Script based editing in FCP?

I have been told that there is a way to have an edit program automate your sequence via the script filenames. So that a very rough cut of a scene or movie can be laid down on the timeline without having to cut in individual clips.

Does FCP have this feature and how do you use it?

Shake has scripting capabilities, but maybe not what you’ve suggested.
It may be worth looking into.

Thank you for all the feedback. Apparently, I did not use the proper description. The type of editing I am referring to is called “Storyboard Editing”. You select the clips you want to use in the browser–viewed as icons instead of lists. You drag them into your timeline or canvas and it lays out your edit for you. A friend of mine just took a three day FCP course and got the answer for me.

    Peace.
