I’m terrible at calculus. But I can clarify that the BMD Resolves (Linux and Mac) will not have telecine control. They also don’t have multiple VTR control.
Some pre-BMD Resolve systems (R Series with Transformer 2/BOB hardware) can control telecines, and have multiple VTR ports. But the BMD Resolve does not use the Transformer 2/BOB hardware, so has no ability to control telecines or multiple VTR’s.

My understanding is that the Resolve application will deBayer the R3D files, as it does on the Linux platform. But until I actually have a chance to see it myself, I can’t comment on what the performance will be. On the Linux R1 platform (the entry level system), you can get real time playback at lower quality settings.

I don’t know much about 3rd party panels at this point. I am hoping that people with more knowledge will respond to your query. I would be surprised if the Tangent Wave panels are all that are available with a USB interface, but maybe that’s true.

Yes, the 2K (and dui) network panels will work on the Linux system, but not on the Mac system.

Red deBayer on the base Linux systems is not real time at max quality/max resolution mode. Co-processor chassis(s) can be added to accelerate that as needed. The Mac platform will not support adding these co-processor chassis.

I don’t yet have any direct comparison experience between the 2 cards. But looking at the specs, the 285 has more CUDA cores (240 vs 192) and twice the memory bandwidth. If I had to guess, I would guess the 285 will have better performance in the Mac than the 4800 would.

As Peter mentioned, the 2K network panels will work with the Linux systems (and ONLY the Linux systems).

The panels on the show stand are using the original metal work, but have updated electronics. The redesigned panel metal work will be very similar to what you see on the stand, with the exception that the trackpad will be removed. The panels are USB connected to the Resolve system.

Something may have changed today, but the answer Monday is that the Mac based product will only work with USB panels. Since the 2K panels are Ethernet based, they will not be supported on the Mac.

There is no telecine support in the current Resolve product.
