OK, and that SDK also contains the same CUDA driver that I already have installed, even though the version number is higher? One other thing, if my PC is running with no problem then should I not bother updating the GPU driver, as I read somewhere?

Thanks for responding, as usual, Tero!

Why did you quote that second part of my post but not add anything?

Thanks, Misha! There is no “knee” setting on a GH5 but there is a way to bring down highlights even more, I’ll give that a shot. As I said above, I’m just an amateur hack, all I have is the camera, so…

Just wondering though, why this is less of a problem in the Fall and Winter? The angle of the sun? I only shoot on cloudy days, btw.
    Cheers.

Agreed. Thanks for confirming. No, I don’t have anything other than my camera. As others here know I’m just an amateur hack, I shoot stuff just to play with in Resolve, but if I can just lick this one problem I’ll be a happy man. I’ve gotten lots of good advice here and in the reddit forum. Thanks, Warren!

Hey Shane. Back when I had an Atomos Ninja II (which I used with a Nikon D5500. Can you believe that!?! ;-)) Anyway, I was able to record in ProRes 4:4:4 and work with those files on my old, woefully underpowered PC. I just couldn’t export in ProRes. Is that what you meant?

btw, I did find a program called something like Mirabel ProRes for Windows, which as you point out, was nothing like real ProRes.

Thanks, Tero. As I said I was just asking out of curiosity since, as you pointed out, I do this for fun and delivery codecs aren’t important to me.

Is DNxHD or DNxHR just as good as ProRes, other than in the minds of people who don’t know what they’re talking about, or is ProRes that much better? I ask, of course, as the amateur that I always point out that I am.

  • I have no trouble sleeping. It’s waking up that’s getting harder ????

I know v.15 isn’t out yet, that’s what prompted me to ask my question up there. Between new Directv firmware to fix their problems with 4K, new firmware for the GH5, and hopefully a beta 4, this could be a big week for me ????
    Cheers!
