    well i think its performance would be very similar to the macbooks at the moment until AE/PS is re-written (very poor). I think at this stage the only hope is bootcamp, booting into XP and running PC versions on your Mac.

    Personally I’m just gonna wait, until either a re-written version of the software comes out. Or after a couple versions of bootcamp when its been trialed a bit

    hi – yes it is possible, but you might want to do a bit of reading because there are many different options. Just do some google searches and you should find something. I’d probably look at using Flash, but if you want to make the video in AE you can render out a shockwave (or maybe even a flash video now) and import that into Flash.

    Maybe search the COW and google for “After Effects and Flash” –

    i think this has something to do with I-frames…or IPB stream…however it is that MPEG-2 compresses. Did it come off a DVD? Anyways, I think if you search the advanced forum on creative cow for “MPEG2” or “VOB” you should find the answer. (I can’t remember off the top of my head)

  • i’ve done a little hunting around and while I haven’t found anything that tests creative applications (AE/PS/3D) I’ve found some articals with pretty positive responses.

    I’m pretty sure that would be fine, although I have never used iMovie. Hopefully iMovie will detect it as 16:9 square pixels and interpret it correctly. If not, you may need to try non-square pixels.

    i reckon its a displacement map with some randomness built into it (wiggle or expressions)

    Then use the same map as a gradient wipe to a layer with a zoom blur on it.

    in Windows you can find all these non-standard symbols and letters in:

    Start Menu->programs->accessories->system tools->character map

    from there you can copy them to clipboard

  • the background in AE is transparent, you just have to have the correct render settings.

    As in the post a few down;
    check your alpha channel by clicking on the little white square at the bottom of the comp window (next to the red/blue/green little square). You should see a black and white matte of your text shape. Good.
    Now add to the render queue and choose a format that supports alpha channels. I’m not sure which formats Flash supports with alpha, but for video I choose Quicktime animation. Make sure that in the render settings RGB + Alpha is selected.

    have you gone into “interpret footage” and had a look there? If it is showing up as 1.25 fps you should be able to change it to whatever you want.
