WHAT IS THIS EFFECT??
Hello,
I am trying to duplicate this effect EXACTLY in After Effects.

How can I do this, and with what effects/plugins? It’s some kind of lense effect, and they use expressions to randomize the position of it I’m assuming.

I bet it probably just involves a radial blur (and maybe something else to bulge out the middle?) on an adjustment layer, then randomizing the position of it… I could be wrong, of course. In fact, I’m probably wrong.

i reckon its a displacement map with some randomness built into it (wiggle or expressions)
Then use the same map as a gradient wipe to a layer with a zoom blur on it.

If of interest to someone, the directional blur in Smoothkit can take a circular greyscale ramp (or whatever) and control the blur scale and orientation like that, so this sort of effect is easy to do.
