January 24, 2009 at 4:41 pm in reply to: 2 monitors dell 2408 not the same color

    Andreas hi

I realize that is the difficult to completely match two monitors….but when you buy 2 same monitors from the same vendor the least you can expect is that 2 monitors will match for at least 95percent in lumina chroma values. What I got was far from it…i had an apple sign on both…on one monitor the white was white and on the other one it looked more of a lemon…for me this is just unaccepetable and erases the meaning of buying same monitors….and I dont see the purpose of trying to fix it with extensive calibration something that was supposed to be same from the get go or at least very close….

    David hi

Thanks for the precious reply….the yellowish monitor will be soon on its way to the vendor…hopefully the next one will have the same default callibration as the one I’ve kept…will keep you posted…

    Hi everyone,

I was just kidding obviously, replying to jeremy’s kidding beore and of course didn’t want to insult anyone’s feeling outhere….just show some gratitude for the efforts and knowledge you’re all putting in helping make the right decision tomorrow morning…

yes I agree Bob….IO HD would be a good first move for me…one question though….

now it’s already been a while since prores is outhere…)’ve read a lot of posts concernign its issue…now I wonder what’s your final verdict on that codec…how loseless, how well does it stand toward the test of some serious compositing, editing, is as good as advertised and do you think it will hold well down the road…

best regards and again thanks to everyone for their input…

    Hi Jeremy, hi gary

    It’s true neither of you is bob nor walter but…oh boy…you’re good…very good…great I should say…

Thanks for the great input…you solved my dilemmas all the way…though I have one small question to ask based on what’s been written above…

    Macintosh Desktop preview?
    dual link capture and playback?

What does this options do in real editing life? What are the occasions I would need those two options…apart from that seems to me that for me at this stage…aja io hd would be definitely the way to go….

    best regards

January 31, 2008 at 11:09 am in reply to: AJA IOHD, MBP and digibeta printing

    Hi everybody..

If anyone has any input to the subject above please contribute…I need to place an order…my dilemma is huge…go with aja io hd…or kona lhe….down the road I will probably buy both…but now I have only enough money to buy one unit….

    top priorities are:

    1. capture and printing via sdi to beta
    2. rock stability
    3. professional monitoring

btw…we are still working in mac osx…waiting for leopard to become a bit more reliable…before making the jump…

    Walter hi,

thanks, very useful thing to know…seems to me that Kona Lhe would be the way to go…since I intend to use it a crucial element in my grading suite…

    Bob hi,

Thanks for the feedback…Tell me one thing though…what about the AJA IO HD how suitable and reliable is it for color grading (1080p) and for printing to DIGI BETA….basically dumping on digibeta in SD PRO RES codec….

You see my dilemma is KONA lHe or AJA IO HD….KONA lhe big plus is stability…. AJA io hd mobility….

but crucial criteria is HD-SDI color grading…and PRINT TO DIGI BETA…

If possible drop a line or twoo…what do you think…

January 22, 2008 at 10:52 pm in reply to: fcp, kona lhe, color??

    Alan hi,

If you’re just doing SD DigiBeta, look for a good Sony PVM-M, PVM-L or BVM series CRT. It will be better than any LCD for SD color work.

Thanks for the reply…well I have also an older panasonic crt monitor that I have been using so far…but I shot most of my stuff on DVCOPROHD in 720p and that’s what I use when making my final colour adjustment…

From there on…it is just dumping on a digi beta for broadcast delivery….

Can Kona Lhe have multiple outputs at the same time…such connecting component out for SD CRT monitor and at the same time monitoring through HD-SDI on JVC HD LCD monitor…

would that be possible or not…
