Heya,
I think you’ve discovered the Motion equivalent of the Ghostbusters “don’t cross the streams”, though it sure would be nice if that method worked for doing a merge. Have you tried a Select All->Copy->Paste to get everything from one project to the other? That might not break the project’s awareness of the relative file paths.

Heya,
Yeah, pretty much anything MIDI will work, even the notorious MIDI flute. Behringer makes a couple of sweet units that are covered with faders or knobs. And you can definitely map multiple parameters to the same MIDI channel, no sweat.

Heya Jake,
The Insect Eye filter is a registration incentive download and can be found here: https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/download/
You get three filters: Insect Eye, Underwater and Movement Blur.
Good luck with your project!

Heya,
There seems to be a suspicious level of interest in the Superman credits 😉 There’s another method over on the Apple discussion boards here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=543007&start=0&tstart=0
Good luck with your project!

Heya,
Just to clarify: you’ll need to nest your PSD image in a layer and then (with the layer selected) go to the ‘Layer’ tab of the Inspector and enable Fixed Resolution. This stops the layer from shrinking-to-fit and lets you specify a hard size. You can then extend the layer to avoid the cropping of you drop shadow.
Good luck with your project!

Hey Alister,
While you can’t easily limit the render size of the text object, you can limit the size of a layer. Nest the glowing text in its own layer, go into the Layer tab of the Inspector and enable Fixed Resolution, and then apply the Light Rays to the layer, not the text itself. The Fixed Rez setting will keep the layer from auto-sizing itself to the text, and that way the filter gets applied at a reasonable rez.
Keep in mind, though, that it may not just be the filter causing the text to exceed your GPU’s 2K texture limit: if the animation on the text causes the text object to exceed 2K, it will still get cropped/resized before the parent layer gets rendered (with the filter).
Good luck with your project!

June 16, 2006 at 7:59 pm in reply to: Layer shift when element moves too far off canvasHey Francois,
This shift is because you are exceeding the max texture size of your graphics card. Motion uses the GPU for all image processing, so if any image or result (like your comp) gets too big, the card has to crop and recenter. This is done by the hardware, not Motion. ATI cards are currently limited to 2048×2048 and Nvidia cards can handle 4096×4096.
There’s a much better explanation here: https://www.motionsmarts.com/tutorials/nutsandbolts/sizematters.html
Good luck!

Hey Chris,
I just rendered out a TGA sequence that has an intact alpha (premultiplied with black). Were you using an image format (for the sequence) that doesn’t support alpha?

Heya,
You will probably want to try the Indent filter. It can be found in the Stylize category.
Good luck!
