Curious – I just tested it and it seems to be still behaving as in the video. This is running Mojave and FCPX 10.4.6

Additional tip, if you don’t need to select specific attributes and are final pasting all of them you can by-pass the Paste Attributes window by using Option-Command -V instead and the attributes will be pasted directly.

Hi Josh – I am experiencing exactly what you describe but with the factory installed drives.
Also my Read speeds are half that of my Write speeds.
Did you learn anything about the issue since you posted?

Will this copy only the portion of the clip that is used or the entire clip? I think the answer to this is key in answering the question.

Just been through this problem – The animation Codec (via compressor) gets the job done. Interestingly Uncompressed 10 Bit doesn’t.
I’d love to get thoughts on why that might be, but I’m also happy to have found a way to get the high quality grandient out of compressor.

I have had no response and I’ve looked quite extensively.
The progress I have had is when it happens I try various combinations of control-arrow(up/down/left/right) and command-arrow(up/down/left/right
*Something* in that combination seems to wake it up from its coma. Because its not easily repeatable I haven’t been able to pin it down yet, but I will keep you informed.
Are you also on a MacBook Pro and Leopard?
