I will be printing each new “newscast” to miniDV tape, to be shown to our congregation on an LCD projector. I thought it would be easier to just make an avi out of the beginning and end and then just add to subsequent projects, but did not want to lose quality.

I am currently working on my new demo and will be leaving original sound and voices on the DVD. This allows the prospective bride and groom to evaluate your audio quality, as well as your video quality. Just my 2 cents.

    Mike,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I didn’t thank you sooner, but have been away from this forum for a while. I’ll get some questions together and send an email. Thanks again.

My GL1 does the same thing. It’s just the way a GL1 is. Don’t know the technical aspects of it but it is how the GL1 does things. Good thing about it is it does not show up on a TV. Haven’t noticed if the GL2 does this or not. I’ve gotten used to it and have not paid attention.

Another question. I had done a conversion of a wedding video from the past, shot in 4:3, converted to 16:9. I used all the same settings described in the above post. The choir and the wedding were both shot with my Sony VX2100. I did not have the “wavy” edges in the wedding video conversion like I had in the choir conversion. Any thoughts why?

The “reduce interlace flicker” helped. The wavy edges are gone. This makes the video acceptable. Obviously it is going to be best for me to shoot my videos in 16:9 to begin with, but I still need a way to convert old video to 16:9. The new HD TV we got for Christmas has already converted me from 4:3 to 16:9. A 4:3 screen just doesn’t look right to me anymore. I’ll take it a step at a time. First start shooting in widescreen and then start shooting HD. Just have to start saving for HD equipment.

It’s worked for me, more than once. Give it a try.

I’ve had that problem before. I simply ran a defrag on my drive and the problem was solved.

I work with both Digital8 and mini DV. I’ve captured both to Vegas 5 and edited with no problem. Digital8 is essentially the same as mini DV simply in a different size cassette. I’ve not had any problems with D8 and Vegas.
