Experiment didn’t work
I have some footage that I shot, at out church, of Lee Singers, a choir from Lee University. I used my Sony VX2100 in 4:3 mode. I want to make this into a widescreen DVD. Here are the steps I have taken. Captured video as normal, in Vegas properties I chose NTSC widescreen 720×480, in pan/crop I chose 16:9 aspect ratio and adjusted the location of the frame, I rendered as Main Concept MPEG2, DVDA NTSC widescreen video stream, in DVDA properties I chose NYSC widescreen (720×480). It plays with black bars (top & bottom) on a normal TV and fills the screen on a widescreen TV (as I had planned). However I am noticing that the quality of the video seems to be sub-par. When I pan the camera, all edges of vertical objects are “wavy”. As long as the camera does not move, everything is clear. But any camera movement or movement of people results in the “wavy” pattern on the edges of the subject. Long post, sorry, but any ideas or explanations?
