I am almost sure there are two build into 9. One for S log2 and one for raw.

I know that you can’t change or create anything ACES. In ACES using Slog2 in and 709 out most of my clips looked good as a starting point. It is only those clips that I had to underexpose to protect the highlights that I couldn’t recover due to black clipping under ACES Slog2. I graded those clips separately without ACES with no problem.

Hello Juan,
Thanks for the response. I tried those LUTs, but they don’t come even close. The ACES Slog2 to 709 works the best for average DR. You just have to pull back on the blacks a little.
My problem is when I have to pull back exposure to get highlights from clipping so the mids (faces) under expose a little. When I bring it up then blacks brake up an pixelates. The same clips without ACES Slog2 to 709 are easily corrected.
I just wish there would be an ACES Slog1 to 709 preset. It makes life a lot easier. I made my own and even though it works better for me than the downloadable options, it is still not as complete as the one made for Slog2.
I’m not a Colorist and just started using Resolve 9. I was using FCP7 and Color before, but Resolve is mush better and I don’t need to have clips sent from FC.
I just read that are originally from Miami. Trust me I’m thinking of moving too. I lived 6 years in West Hartford Connecticut and loved the 4 seasons. Born and raced here in Miami, but it is not the place for our industry.Douglas Villalba

I use a Sony MEAD-SD01 card adapter with and SDHC card. I don’t know if it has anything to do with it, but I have to put the file inside the Sony folder for my F3 to update.

Just move the file to the next folder until it takes. I think that I put mine in the Sony folder.

I did a whole feature with the F3 and KPM. I had some problems at the beginning, but they were all user mistakes. I was using the wrong FC. Now I use a SanDisk Extreme PRO and no more problems in over 1000 clips.
Things to look out for:
Make sure you turn on the camera first,
Test it using AC power (Battery has to be more than 12v without charing power with things like monitors)
Make sure you hit the switch card button before ejecting the FC.
Use good quality SDI cables.
Use AJA approved FCs.Douglas Villalba

All of the above advise is good. However you mention flickering from room lights.
When ever your lights are other than sunlight or tungsten use 1/60 in the US.
One good reason to set angle instead of speed is that when you change frame rate lets say 24 fps at 180 degrees in speed it would be equal to 1/48. However if your frame rate is 30 fps at still 180 degrees, the speed now is equal to 1/60. 360 degrees is a full circle 180 degrees is half the circle. so if you were shooting slowmo at 60 fps at 180 degrees the actual speed would be 1/120 and that is how degrees maintain motion blur without going into the menu to change speed.
Confused yet?Douglas Villalba

November 22, 2011 at 8:49 pm in reply to: clip name recorded in image on external recorderI have my KiPro Mini connected to SDI A not the SDI out. That way it doesn’t matter if you set display ON of the SDI HDMI the signal is still clean out of the dual port A.
