SONY F3 – S-log
Posted by Peter Fuhrman on July 13, 2012 at 3:49 pmI upgraded my S-log this year (2012) and DO NOT have the 1.5G YPbPr422 & S-Log option in my menu?
Why? Is there a firmware upgrade somewhere?
Thank you,

July 13, 2012 at 4:54 pmHi Michael,
You are suggesting that upgrading my firmware to version 1.20 I will have the 1.5G YPbPr422 & S-Log option available?
Thank you,
Peter -

July 13, 2012 at 5:02 pmI can’t answer that because I haven’t yet purchased the key but I did just use another F3 and I believe that option was available
Good Luck

It’s probably in your best interests anyway to upgrade your F3 to the latest firmware version which at this time is v.1.4. You can find it on this page at the Sony dot com website:
Just click on the “XDCAM EX Memory Camcorders and Decks” hyperlink on that page and your firmware updates will be revealed. There’s also a warning on there that states: “Note: You must use XDCAM Browser software version 2.0 or higher to work with cards/clips shot with a PMW-F3 running firmware version 1.2 or higher.”
You can find Sony XDCAM Browser software here:
Updating your camera’s firmware does indeed make previously hidden menu items available.

July 14, 2012 at 4:51 pmThanks. I’m getting closer. For some reason my camera isn’t recognizing the firmware upgrade. I believe I’m following the folder structure and upgrade process correctly. Camera is still not taking the upgrade 🙁

July 14, 2012 at 5:03 pmJust double checking here, the ROOT folder on the SxS card is the BPAV folder correct?
Thank you,

July 14, 2012 at 7:09 pmJust move the file to the next folder until it takes. I think that I put mine in the Sony folder.

July 31, 2012 at 4:58 pmThe root folder is the card itself. Not inside any other folder, just on the card itself.

July 31, 2012 at 7:42 pmI use a Sony MEAD-SD01 card adapter with and SDHC card. I don’t know if it has anything to do with it, but I have to put the file inside the Sony folder for my F3 to update.

July 11, 2015 at 7:54 pmHi,
I am trying to upgrade my F3 to Slog but it’s not working. I downloaded firewire update 1.4 from sony website and install into my camera but somehow it’s not working. Are the firewire update and slog update 2 different things? Could anyone help me please? Thanks in advance.
