I’m sure Peter Wiggins would be able to point you in the right direction. He’s one of the FCP leaders from the UK and has his own very informative website. peterwiggins.com

I spent 60 hrs on a 60sec spot once. Layer on top of Layer on top of Layer, and that was before After Effects and non-linear editing.

    David ,
    Be Nice, It’s Christmas!

  • I may be way off base here, but I think a majority of the reasons the basic questions end up here, is the sense of community. I rarely post a question, and won’t unless I’ve already searched the question, and even less frequently post a solution, because somebody has already beaten me to it. But the people I trust are in this forum, the people I’ve come to know over years of being on the cow and meeting them at NAB etc.. If you were to re-direct my question to the other forum, your kicking me out of the family. I come to the cow once or twice a day just to learn from other people’s issues, this is my Final Cut Family. Okay Ron not a good enough reason to abort your impending change, but I do think the sense of community is responsible for a large part of the growth of this forum.

Like Shane says a version of ProRes would probably be the best way to go. I’ve been working on a 6 camera HD shoot, from P2, HDV and AVCAM sources, everything is at ProRes PROXY which though a very low HD codec is defiantly good enough to edit to. I will Up-convert to HQ when I’m done and have final client approval.

    Dan,
I saw George Runquist, (The Rodeo Producer ) last week! He drove through Texarkana, on his way back east called me, and we had breakfast together. He might help with marketing on the movie I’m doing.
    Small world huh?

i just did a from the ground install of Snow Leopard this weekend. I really think that my Octocore really does seem to rum faster. I hope that’s true and not just perception. Only problem I had was the LaCie drivers for my ESATA card. System kept having kernal panics until I went to chipset makers website and downloaded month old drivers…..everything runs beautifully.

Are we allowed to say WOOT on Facebook? Isn’t that one of the 7 words banned by the FCC. If you do it again, I’m going to tell Ron Lindeboom!
