Hi Charles,
The EX3 comes from the factory with a bit too much edge detail dialled in which will make the edges of everything too “videoy” looking. Also turn off the “auto knee” setting and manually set the knee to around 80% to start. The auto knee setting doesn’t work all that well.
To make these adjustments you’ll need to modify one of the picture profiles and when finished activate it so that it appears in the viewfinder as “PP1”

You might want to have a look at Alister Chapman’s article about shooting HD for delivery in SD. He talks about how to avoid downconverted “line twitter” as well as suggestions on what format to shoot depending on the subject matter.

“It means that the lens has a power zoom and power iris, meaning you don’t have to twist things manually if you don’t want to. I can’t comment on whether you can use a lens designed for a CCD camera on a CMOS camera because I don’t know. My gut feeling though, is that you can.

Then get to bed. Your clips are most likely fine. Well, maybe not the one you were recording when the battery died but the others should be OK. If you want to be sure then start the camera right now and let it restore the card. All restoring does is rebuild the SxS Pro card directory so it can display all the clips properly. The restore command does not reformat the card. Check it out and then post back.

Rule #1: Every BPAV folder name must be unaltered as well as each folder’s contents.
Rule #2: Every BPAV folder must reside in a separate parent folder with a unique user-defined name.Then you click the “add” button and as soon as you navigate to one of your user- named folder the program will “see” the BPAV folder inside and will display all the clip thumbnails from that folder. Do this for each of your BPAV folders each one will have it’s clip contents displayed as thumbnails in the main XDCAM Transfer window.
