There’s the “G-Connect” from G-RAID that lets you store content wirelessly from an iPhone or iPad. This fall Apple will be activating their “iCloud” servers which allows you to wirelessly sync all your Apple devices automatically as well as to store and retrieve content. This will be started when IOS 5 starts shipping.
I don’t know about the other devices but I’m sure there’s already hard drives out there for android stuff.

Sony SxS Pro Memory cards (the blue ones) are good for 100,000 cycles.
Sony SxS-1 Pro Memory cards (the orange ones) are good for 10,000 cycles.Unless there is visible damage to the electrical connectors even a used card should give you many hours of service.

My EX cameras both retain that setting on startup so I’m not sure why yours doesn’t. Try using the RESET ALL command in your camera’s menu and see if that solves it.

You can only use compact flash (CF) cards with the Ki Pro Mini and only 4 types of CF cards are qualified by AJA:
Hoodman UDMA RAW Compact Flash 32GB 675x
SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash 32GB
SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash 64GB
Delkin CombatFlash 625x 32GB
Using ProRes standard you’ll get 50 minutes of record time on a 64G CF card. 220Mbits/sec is ProRes HQ and you get 33 min. record on a 64G.
Unless you’re shooting green screen or need to do heavy colour correction regular ProRes is more than adequate.

You are correct. XDCAM Transfer is still needed to pull EX files into FCP X. My friend confirmed this and he also said that you can drop 5D footage into the same timeline and it plays flawlessly with no other preparation. Apple is supposedly bringing XDCAM EX compatibility in a “future” version.

I’ve found over the years that DVD Studio Pro is rather sketchy when doing the actual DVD burn. I’ve had many more aborted burns than there should be. However I still do the DVD builds in DVDSP but instead of burning within the program I’ll create a disk image. Once that’s done I’ll use Apple’s Disk Utility to do the actual burning from the disk image. Much more reliable method, at least for me.

“Well, yeah if you’re using an EX1R. Whatever works to get access again to the buttons and switches. Direct menu is what they call the TLCS system now I guess. It’s basically similar to pushing the magic (auto) button on the side of the EX1R. Good in some situations buy mostly not good.

But honestly, I can produce fine looking SD DVDs using Final Cut Studio so I wish I was able to look over your shoulder to see what’s happening. It’s probably something quite simple.

Try this:
go back to your SD timeline and apply the flicker filter. Well set it to MAX first in the Browser and then apply it to all your clips. This will get rid of motion artifacts and line twitter. Motion artifacts happen when there’s too much detail dialed in to the camera and you’re going from HD to SD. All that HD detail is faithfully reproduced during the compression process (making a DVD from an HD source) and this leads to big time motion artifacts.
If you believe that your video is being compromised during the re-wrap to MOV then try trashing the preference file for XDCAM Transfer. The path is: Macintosh HD>user>yourname> library>preferences. Look for the filename: “com.sony.bprl.xdcamtransfer.plist” without the quotes. Trash this preference file (as in put it in the trash bin) and restart XDCAM Transfer. This will put the program into its default state. See if that solves it. Make sure you also re-navigate to where you want the converted media to again reside by using the preferences menu.
