I capture DV50 format all the time. For 16×9 DV50, I choose the Easy Set-up for DV50 codec anamorphic. Then when editing, set the sequence to the same. It should work fine without any other adjustments

Thanks for the suggestions. I realized when you said that the cable might be bad, that seems the simplest and straightforward explanation since the SDI pass through to my monitor was fine which was from seperate cables. And another little odd thing is that I wasn’t getting any audio out of the RCA outs of the breakout box which was no big deal since I looped it through my monitor.

The answer was staring right at me. The Box and/or Cable are bad. I took out the harness that came with it and Voila, Deck control was fine, and in and out works fine to Beta. Thanks for the trouble shooting.

Gary,
It’s a RS422 port. I had an AJA I/O LA and it drove the deck fine with the same RS422 connector. And even if there was a problem there, I tried disconnecting that RS422 port and go into local just to see if the signal is going through. It still didn’t get a signal.

I think it might be all I read about the use of the feature many of these cards highlight of using DVI or HDMI connectitity for HD signals that has me a bit confused. I understand there is Component out of various cards, but I was under the impression (maybe mistakenly) that taking the SDI signal out of these cards to DVI or HDMI was somehow a cleaner HD signal.

I was looking for a less expensive way to monitor HD through a DVI or HDMI type monitor. What type of SDI or Component input monitor are you using to take the output from you KONA?
