have you tried smoothcam?
can have great results … also some very bizarre results. worth a try.
bake a short section to a self contained quicktime.
drop the smoothcam filter onto it – this will take several minutes to analyze the clip (thus the reason to test on a short clip as smoothcam analysis the entire source clip.)
then play around with the settings in the filter to get best results.
i’ve read that it is recommended to lower the translational and rotational smoothness to lower than the default 2.5 but can’t remember where (i’ve had lots of success with aerials and car shots with 0.5-0.75 on each)then final render

In PAL field order is upper, except for dv, which is lower.
Could that be anything to do with it?I’ve had similar problems and its gets fixed by playing with shift fields on the dv stuff.
As for the animations stuff … sorry .. no ideas

June 11, 2008 at 10:05 am in reply to: OT slightly, setup for 8hour unmanned field recordWell I was thinking of trying to setup an automator task in leopard to start and stop the recording every hour or so. To try and avoid having one single 8 hour file. Kinda like this one, https://library.creativecow.net/articles/cowdog/automator.php … that or I’ll write a java program to do it.
I haven’t tried this yet. The first question I guess I should ask is which gear I should get for work in the field.
Apparently our power requirements will be met by a car battery rig. I’m not sure of the details of that exactly.
I’ll look up Adobe OnLocation also
Thanks

Check the export options you are using. Make sure you export as a self contained file.
It could be the case that you are exporting to a different framerate?
Do you have DVD SP?
-
Oh, iDVD has no timeline to piece things back together, DVD Studio Pro does thats what i would use to do this.
Does the movie you export from final cut when played in quicktime have the same sync problem?
-
Can you split it up into smaller sections and then put together in iDVD

I got one of the cheaper wacom tablets … bamboo fun medium … $100.
Perhaps I just don’t know any better not having used the Intuos range yet but I love this tablet.
The only problem I have is that my hand seems to have forgotten how to use the mighty mouse … seriously .. its like I’ve never used a computer before.Anywho, if the more expensive wacom tablets are even better than the one I have then I have something to look forward to 🙂
Also I have the same DVD SP button moving/clicking issues, the little mouse comes in useful here.

From the aja website:
“Minimum KONA 3X System: Apple Power Mac G5 (dual) 2GHz with
1 GB or more RAM”Recommended however is a quad core G5
…. so the existing G5 will work but is at the minimum requirement, still not sure if I should insist on upgrading to more powerful tower …
I want to but then again i’m not the one paying for it … I just have to work on it … rendering forever … this is looking more and more like an upgrade recommendation 🙂
thanks for the help everyone.

I think the important thing is removing those pesky duplicate frames, and whether fcp 5 can do that with the kona3x?
Prores would be nice of course, but so would a nice shiny octocore … and some diamond shoes … and a beer fridge for sunny days.
That last ones not such a bad idea actually ….

Thats a good point.
Thanks!Forgot that one 🙂
Is the interface (pci-x) the only difference in kona3 and kona3x?
