For what it is worth, the newer BP-970 batteries pack a full 7200 milliamps which will power the XL H1 for a solid 5-6 hours depending on how much zooming you are doing throughout that time.
I think a few BP-970 batts and a dual battery charger is all you need these days – unless you like the extra weight that the larger and heavier Anton Bauer or IDX batteries provide.
I have a bunch of IDX and Anton batts but now all I use are the BP-970’s.
Just my .02 cents worth…

On the XL H1, press the “Menu” button to turn on the menus in the LCD viewfinder. Scroll down to “SYSTEM”, press the scroll wheel to enter the System Menu. Scroll down to “NEXT PAGE”, press the scroll wheel to enter the 2nd page of the System menu… there you will see the “DV CONTROL” option.
Hope this helps,

I think Anton Bauer sells a dummy battery adaptor which knocks down the power to 7v.

Careful, http://www.bestpricecameras.com has a horrible track record
https://www.resellerratings.com/store/Best_Price_Cameras_6You are making a mistake if you buy from a reseller who is not authorized by Canon. For a list of Canon authorized resellers, go to:

The Canon “CONSOLE” software is an optional purchase and is not included in the standard list price of the XH A1.
It’s a very handy tool to have if you have the need for a software-based external Camera Control Unit with Waveform/ Vectorscope and disk recording over FireWire.
Please do let us know if you have any other questions.

The rear XLR input accepts MIC levels only. You can always pad down the line level signal to a mic level signal with an inline line-mic attenuator.

1) Be careful to use optical grade lens cleaner sparingly with a microfiber lens cloth with minimum pressure.
2) Go to http;//canondv.com – click on the “Download Library” tab. Specify that you want info for an XL2…
https://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=326&modelid=10350
Click on the top left where it says “Product / Software Manuals” in RED. Make sure that you browser will allow Pop-Up Windows… A Pop-Up Window will appear – scroll down and look for “XL202IM-EN.pdf”. There you go.3) It is OK to leave the lens on for extended periods of time. However, when the lens is attached, be careful about allowing the camcorder to shift around in a case as you could damage the lens mount if the camera moves around too much or receives too much shock during shipping. Best to ship with lens detached.
Please do let us know if you have any other questions.
