Was looking to get a 3-CCD mini DV camera for my personal video and weekend freelance projects. Would love to hear your thoughts & opinions on these 2 cameras or others models in that price range.

    Sony DCR-VX2100
    Lux: 1
    Pixels: 380K
    530 Lines
    CCD: 1/3″
    WxHxD: 4 3⁄4″ x 6 3⁄8″ x 15 1⁄2
    Time Interval Recording: Yes

    Canon XL2 (60i)
    Lux: 5.5
    Pixels: 680K
    525 Lines
    CCD: 1/3″
    WxHxD: 8.9″ x 8.7″ x 19.5″
    Time Interval Recording: Yes

Size is important so the cameras fits in an overhead bin on plane. I taught an AE class for someone with a Conon XL1S, and immediately fell in love with the color/picture quality, and he had some night video of a streetlight and moon which came out great on the XL1. Sony looks better from Lux rating and physical size, but the Canon has more pixels. Are there some other features I should be looking at??? I would love to do some slow motion or time lapse stuff, what features should I look for, is 60i helpful?

Also anyone buy from http://www.bestpricecameras.com. I could get the camera alone from there and a battery & power supply from ebay, all for just under $1,000.
