Hi Declan,

Thank you so much that is all extremely helpful and eases my mind some what. Yes the footage includes lots of green screen so they’ll key it out in FCP and also grade it. I’ll try out what you suggest.

Ok i tried DNxHD and i tried the quicktime pro res 422 in pro and then exporting that DNxHD. I dragged both clips into after effect,matched it up frame for frame and skipped into between them to see the difference adn found that the h.264 converted to prores and then exported DNxHD clip was better quality compared to the h.264 exported at DNxHD. So i have now converted all my files into pro res, edited again and exported DNxHD and the quality is good enough so I’ve sent off t he files now. I’m not sure whether to do this process in future again or just use the native h.264 footage in premiere pro, it will all just be trial and error which is annoying. Thanks for your help.

Hi please can you see this thread and see what you think i have h.264 footage that is pixelated after exporting from pro and looks a bit pixelated whilst watching the viewer window, i converted to avi apple pro res and then placed in premmiere pro and it looked a bit better in the sequence viewer but should i be convertibg to quicktime pro res instead of avi before dragging clips into pro, see the link thread for info ,please help..https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/938532

Hi it only gives me these options to export

I tried your suggestion of exporting at h.264- best settings which I did but still pixelated and i don’t know how to make it a avi non codec file. As you may of guessed I am a complete novice and this is the first project I”ve used pro for.

It is really just that first shot of the car that is noticeable and I think I can get away with the rest. If i export the first clip to prores will that make a difference and if so would i need to change the project settings from a dslr project and change from the h.264 export best settings? And would it matter if just one clip was prores and the others h.264 in the project? If you know any good free prores converters that would be excellent as mpeg streamclip won’t work because i don’t have fcp and i tried a converter called pav tube straight to normal prores but the final video is just blank…

…I have maged to download a apple pro res codec now and exported a avi apple pro res file with these settings…

I dragged it into pro and on the viewer it looks maybe better but i don’t have the option to export at those settings from previous pic…

yeah i just realised it says 50 when it should be 25

Hi i’ve tried it out with first set of changes and also changed pixel aspect ratio to square pixels as i think that was in the sequence settings but it it still not good. In the sequence viewfinder in premiere pro it it loooks a bit pixelated and doesnt look as good as watching the original mov in quicktime.

I’ve uploaded the video i rendered out first with my original bad settings and then uploaded a short video with your suggestions. It’s evident on the back of the car how pixelated it is…..

hi i’m editing on a Mac but pro works with native footage so i was under the impresssion there was no need to convert it?
