I found another problem with my expression — I have a random number generator in there — I need this randomness, and the ranges that I have are good. But is there any way to make this less jumpy. So if the random range is 10 to 20, I don’t want the computer picking:

    Frame 1: 11
    Frame 2: 19
    Frame 3: 10
    Frame 4: 16, etc.

    But maybe more like:

    Frame 1: 11
    Frame 2: 11.5
    Frame 3: 13
    Frame 4: 13.5
    Frame 5: 13
    Frame 6: 14, etc.

So that the range is still 10-20, but it doesn’t make drastic jumps. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

Thanks folks — I will try these out when I get back in to work tomorrow. I am sure one of these methods will work for me. Thanks again.

Thanks for the response Steve —

    1. I used file>export
    2. I am trying to export it as quicktime (H.264)
    3. Comp size is 640×480

Awesome — these are good — I will probably go with the expression for this one (ya know, cuz its free), but if I need to do something crazier in the future, the software mentioned looks really cool. Thanks everyone.

Although, of course I would absolutely be open to a different process if thats what it takes — I just need to end up with mpv and mpa files.

I am compressing to mpg files (separate mpv and mpa files) — these are what my company uses to put on DVDs and it has always worked in the past with Avid projects (we just send them to squeeze as a quicktime referemce file, etc) — I figured it had something to do with the fact that I was compressing it twice. I figured if there was a way to just send it to squeeze straight from after effects without compressing it first, it would work.

This codec in squeeze has also been used with motion graphics stuff from “AVID Effects”

Thanks for the suggestions folks — I am creating different layers for the different strokes and it is working pretty well. I had to switch to a different font because the one I originally was using would have taken WAY too long (really fat font that would have required me to create about 7 or 8 new layers PER letter).

Maybe someday this will become an easy, self-contained effect based on the vector. Until then, thanks again for the help.
