This might work, but the deck has 34pin parallel connection, not 9 pin serial. Maybe I have to look for a converter 34pin to 9pin RS422?
Would any of the capture programs (Media Express) read VITC if inserted?
This is for a possible two-year project.

ProResHQ is 10bit, ProRes(noHQ) is 8bit.

My guess is that somewhere in the chain, you converted/imported interlaced footage to progressive and from there it can’t be recovered as interlaced. Have a look at your workflow from beginning to end. When PPro converts from interlaced to progressive it seems to throw away half the vertical resolution by leaving out one of two fields. Other programs such as AE, Shake and others give a choice of interpolating, duplicating etc. Makes a big difference in quality.

Upper and Lower are interlaced formats. Progressive is progressive. Upper and Lower indicate field priority, depends if you work in PAL or NTSC.

It looks like you are coming from interlaced footage and exporting to progressive. I don’t know how to handle this in PPro but I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Exporting to interlaced solved the problem. I can convert in Shake or After Effects, but haven’t found the way in PPro.

Maybe I need to reinstall Avid codec after updating to PP 5.5.2? I have no choice to do progressive as it is now, will investigate.

I have PPro installed on a MacPro that already had FCP7. I can read, edit and render to Prores. A Blackmagic Decklink is installed with the latest drivers. I still have not found a way to capture HD-SDI directly to Prores.
Is this an Adobe or a Blackmagic problem?
