  • Dan,

    Thank you for your response. It worked great. I just had to make a little change to make it work as I needed.

    C = comp("Slide3");
    L = C.layer(thisComp.name);
    p = C.layer("SW_Robot_1").transform.position;
    d = p.valueAtTime(time + L.startTime) - p.valueAtTime(time + L.startTime + .1);

    (d[0] + d[1]);

    Now I have another question: how do I keep the result to be no less than -20? I mean, how do I keep the value inside an interval? Something like (-20,20).

    Thank you!

    Thank you Richard and sorry for the late response.

    You’re right, with the texture disc the the Fog parameter works.

    Thanks for the help.

    Thank you for your response Richard.

    Reading your response I realised that my expectation for the further particulares to became foggy (blurred) doesn’t make much sense on a depth map. They should became darker, and that doesn’t happen either.

    The particles look flat because there is no depth in CC Particle World, thats why I’m building this Depth Map to be called by the effect Lens Camera Blur. I already cranked up the Fog value a lot to see if anything happens with no luck. I’m guessing this is a bug but I never saw this parameter being used so I’m not sure if it’s me or a bug.

    By the way, the particles are static and spread on all three axis. Could this be the problem?

    Thank you,
    Diogo

    Thank you for your help Dave.

    I forgot to say that I’m using AE CS6.

    I got it right again!!!! It wasn’t any of your suggestions but your first one helped! Thank you.
    Went to Comp Settings and changed the “Start Timecode”. It was starting at 00:00:00:15.

  • Thank you for your reply!

    I was thinking to do that but only after I finish this project.

    I managed to isolate the problem with the Element3D Layers witch I now rendered in a different comp.

    By the way I pasted the error wrong. The error is : Last log message was: <140735077280960> <0> Vid rate ratios min, max: 1, 1

    Thank you for your replies.

    1 – The Ninja (or any other recorder) don’t really transcode the H.264 info from the camera. It actually bypasses the information directly from the sensor to the recorder through the HDMI port.

    2 – The information in the referred post by Steve is actually correct. Meaning that if you have 8 bit info and you record it at 10 bit you’l only get 8 bit information because there isn’t anymore info to record. It’s like if you have 8L of water in aa 8L container and you get that water into a 10L container you still have 8L of water, it’s just in a bigger container.

    I know that recording directly into ProRes will gather much more info than in H.264. My question is what advantages will I get recording to the Ninja (I know there are advantages)? More dynamic range? Only more shades of grey? Other advantages that I’m not remembering? And last, is it worthy?

    For 300$ I do believe it is worthy I just wanted to get a few more thoughts about it.

    Thank you,
    Diogo
