I thought of not using any moves on pictures, it’s hard to avoid the Ken Burns documentary feel when you do that, and it’s not what we’re going for. Unless you can think of examples of more interesting and complex moves.

Thanks John, but we are not trying to do a stop motion type of film. It will be more in the style of la Jetee with still images used not to simulate motion but rather as pictures with dialogue recorded over them. The pictures will be succeding one another at a rate from 1-2 fps to 3-5 seconds on a single picture. I imagine that our challenge here is to make the dialogue look natural and not boring to death because not much action is happening apart from talking.

Thanks for the tip! It does makes a lot of sense to record sound ahead of time and use it as a template. We are definitely going to do that.

I imported it into DVD Studio Pro, viewed it in Mpeg Streamclip, and as preview in finder (space bar) – looks the same.

tried that – but the m2v comes out 4×3 squeezed horizontally. The 846×486 also comes out 4×3 and is not recognized by DVD Studio Pro. What the…?
If Toast can make an NTSC DVD from a PAL movie with just one click, Episode should definitely be able to do that too, ain’t it? -
I see that After Effects has an NTSC D1 Widescreen Square Pixel preset 865×486 – is this the the resize settings I should apply in Episode?

hey thanks for the replies. I usually stick to the rule of thirds but a lot of my “close ups” are actually medium shots with more torso than I would have liked. I’m not sure why it happens that way. So usually, it’s not too much headroom, its too much on the bottom of the frame.
