Ya pro res hq is what I meant.. Isn’t this a far simpler solution than moving to a third party software then?

Hi just wanted to check.
If I take a hq export from resolve without subs.. Bring it to my fcp timeline place the subs and give the same parameter hq export to bring it in resolve and make a dcp.. Will there be a quality loss??

Hi
So I am about to start a project on FCP7 that will eventually end up in Resolve.
I want to get things right, right in the beginning and make things less miserable for the grader and myself so looking for some help.

So inorder to make a clean shift from fcp to resolve i have read that all files should have unique file names. My problem is (like in all my previous projects) each day/card has the file names starting from 001. Which would mean multiple 001’s considering its been shot over 20 days and many cards. I am very wary of touching the original file names and don’t think thats the right way to go about. Any suggestions?
Is there anything else i should check before i start to the fcp project to be in good shape to finish in resolve?

Hi
I am editing a documentary shot on A7S on fcp7.
The director has used tentacle sync while shooting..so syncing in post is being done using tentacle sync software which also can transcode to pro res.
My question is this..
If i use pro res LT to edit how do i reconnect to native media later if fcp7 can’t recognise it.

Do i then transcode all the rushes to HQ and reconnect to that? Won’t it be a rather tedious process to transcode twice?

Yet another query!
When i export my prores 422 hq timeline using animation codec the compressor native dimensions/size shows 554×311 instead of 1920×1080 which is the original footage dimensions.
What am i missing here?
Should i manually change it to 1920×1080 HD?

I guess the only way is to change the clips to ‘none’ field dominance in the browser and resend it to after effects for replacing the earlier video!

Though i sent a animation codec mov for AE, if at all the clips sent for AE are sent as interlaced is it possible to correct that in fcp later?

Hi thanks for responding

The clips on the browser do say upper field dominance but i had unchecked interlacing and de-interlace while exporting from mpeg streamclip so it should be progressive clip.

hi,
though my problem does not exactly relate to the one mentioned here but still..
i imported a 16:9 footage on Premier Pro 2.0, but my settings while importing were for 4:3.
however my rushes are looking fine (no stretching, no side bars)
i started a project with settings for widescreen 16:9.
it asks me to render every clip on the timeline also it has black bars on the sides.(and ofcourse top and left)
how do i remove these black bars on the sides without distorting the image.
