  • mov from AE shows interlacing on export in fcp

    Hi
    So i am editing a 600D footage on fcp7.
I converted these to pro res 422 HQ on mpeg streamclip, edited a sequence and exported using animation codec for after effects in PC.
I received an uncompressed mov of both video and animation merged as one mov from the after effects.
On laying it in the a proresHQ timeline and exporting a QuickTime movie i see interlacing in the video files but the animation bit is fine.
If i change the timeline settings- field dominance to none i see interlacing in the animation bit but the video bit is fine.

You cannot change the field order or other sequence settings of any timeline after the fact, you’ll need to create a new timeline set to “none,” then paste your media from the original timeline and re-render.

    Hi thanks for responding

The clips on the browser do say upper field dominance but i had unchecked interlacing and de-interlace while exporting from mpeg streamclip so it should be progressive clip.

Though i sent a animation codec mov for AE, if at all the clips sent for AE are sent as interlaced is it possible to correct that in fcp later?

    Thanks again for helping out

    Thanks a lot everyone!
I guess the only way is to change the clips to ‘none’ field dominance in the browser and resend it to after effects for replacing the earlier video!
    Thanks again for the help.

    Hi
    Yet another query!
When i export my prores 422 hq timeline using animation codec the compressor native dimensions/size shows 554×311 instead of 1920×1080 which is the original footage dimensions.
    What am i missing here?
Should i manually change it to 1920×1080 HD?

Thanks in advance for the help

Why not just export an XML from FCP to AE via automatic duck? No re-compressing involved.
