“CTRL + \” worked! Never knew about that. Three keys at once: “ctrl” (or “command” on mac), the “+” key, and the “\” key. Resets the entire application window to fit the screen.

Never mind I just answered my own questions! For anyone else who might read this later…

Extrusion Model > Tesselation > Path Resolution > Extreme
    and,
No I don’t have to remake it, can just update what I already created.

Thanks Cassius, glad this was such an easy fix!

No! Didn’t realize that was an option 😉 I’m an AE novice but even more so in Element – just started using it. Where do I have the option to increase the path resolution? Do I have to re-make the element or can I change it on what I’ve already done? Thanks so much!

  • Nulls, of course! Thanks Ted. Sorry for the delay, the project got bumped for a while but I’m back at it now.

So I’ve done 4 separate Element layers now, one for each part of the logo. (In each Element layer, I’ve assigned the logo path for that part to Path Layer 1 under Custom Texts and Masks.)

Now, what do you mean by generating a Null for each of these? I know how to create a Null and parent each of the Element layers to it. What do the extra Nulls for each Element layer accomplish (and by “generate a Null for each of the Element objects” do you mean create new Null layers then parent each of the Element layers to one? (I’m still somewhat of a novice in AE so forgive the ignorance.)

    Thanks!

  • Not sure I understand. Does seeing how I’ve set things up help? I suppose I really only need two extrusions (could combine the “little strike” and “big strike”), but still same problem with centering.

Paul, what do you mean “2014?” CS6? I’m in CS6 and dragging one side only extends the one side. Can double click, but clicking and typing an amount still seems like just as much fuss as dragging both ends individually.

  • Thanks Dave. I don’t have (or would no how to use) ProTools, though it does seem pretty minor which is what made me hopeful enough to post here.

In Premiere I tried putting the EQ on a track and following your instructions, which did help a little. Thanks! I know enough to know that there’s not much beyond “a little” that can be done in post with distortion. I think it’s definitely tolerable and minor enough to not be distracting at this point.

Al, I was using a Sennheiser lapel mic kit, which has always performed wonderfully, and actually just recently had the little mic itself replaced. Had to be something in the pre-amp I’m thinking. Will run some more tests before the next shoot.

  • Thank you, the re-rendering after changing the sequence settings seems to have fixed the problem. I’ll be sure to convert future footage to Pro-Res codec prior to importing to FCP.

  • Footage is MOV files shot on Canon 7D (24p)
    Sequence settings: 1920×1080 – HDTV 1080i (16:9); Compressor: H264
    Yes, QT7 is installed.
    Yes, sequence is rendered.
