Not a deal, I went years thinking FCP would transfer TC on export and did those steps and made things so much easier.

The only thing I don’t like about the Snow Leopard FCS3 relation is that Snow Leopard is supposedly Intel only. We still have 2 G5s that do a good majority of our grunt work around here. Oh well maybe this will be motivation for getting new Mac Pros.

Your not going to hurt anything by editing in 10-bit. The only reason not to is for Hard Drive space and system resources. However everything you watch on tv is somehow compressed down to 8-bit anyways.

Do you have the Show TC in the QT preferences? Also do you have the sequence TC to match the source TC in your timeline? If not then it will only export the TC from our Timeline and not from the clips in your sequence.

I didn’t see much for PC requirements. will any PC with an PCIe slot work? For instance a Dell Inspiron?

$695 + a low cost PC gets you a 3Gb/s SDI Signal monitor. -
Compressor, you will have to create a custom QT setting for it. Done it before works fine, however IMX30 will have a little more noise compared to 50 probably won’t be noticeable in the end.

If you’re looking to update the drives in your Xserve Raid you better act fast. PATA drive are becoming harder to find since only 1 manufacture is making them nowadays. We update our Xraid from 250 to 500 drives and had the hardest time trying to find enough PATAs to fill the sleds.

I believe Pro Res in it’s current state is considered Lossless, my guess is that they are following Avid’s DNxHD codec with a lower bitrate version. Avid came out with 2 versions of DNxHD at higher bit rates then came out with a 36mb/s version for offline use.
