well yes, they capture 60 frames alright, although i never got 60 identical frames p/s out of this camera, if you skip through the timeline frame by frame you will notice that every other frame is the same as the one next to it. maybe i am missing something.
anyway, by the time even my gopro does 60p..

so how is card this working out for you?

  • excuse me if i missed something here.

I converted my HDC700 1080 50P files using Voltiac into either ProRes or H264 and imported them in Final Cut.

Dropped them on a 25 frames timeline and changed the speed to 50%
This should ceate a longer slowmotion clip, it does but:

    not all frames are identical;
every other frame is the same as the one before, if this makes sense but it looks like this
    112233445566….

any ideas on how to get this right anyone?

    thanks in advance!

log and transfer window should do the trick.
recently i’ve encoutered a whole new problem..
i just to import clips from my sony sr12 into fcp via “log and transfer” but now all of a sudden i get an error message that says:

“SONY SR12” contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.

don’t understand why exactely but i can’t import clips from my camera anymore..

    a clue anyone???

    thanks in advance

  • ah.. helpfull, thanks.
what about the final render, the best possible quality i can get using this setup?
i was thinking of returning my sony sr12 and perhaps getting a jvc gz-hd6 because thats the only acvhd camcorder that i know of that has an ilink [thus firewire] connection.
so i am able to capture like i would capture from regular dv tape without compression,
do you think this wil improve the quality and lesser the file sizes? this will let me have the advantages of recording on harddisk and preserve original files in high definition.

  • where do i set the log and transfer propperties?

  • hi paul,

how exactely did you hook up your sr12 with firewire?
i also have a sony sr12 but it doesn’t have a firewire output.
do you perhaps know the best way to transfer files from the camcorder into finalcut pro with the least quality loss?

which compression to use and so on.
now i import my files via imovie and it compresses the files so they can be imported in fcp. i doubt that this would be the best solution.. but if so, what would be the best compression settings?

    thanks in advance
