  • Hi all,

Does anyone know of any books teaching about color timing, or grading?

not just standard color correction, but actual grading?

    Thanks,
    Derrick

Ok, check it out, the popcorn actually falls out of the bowl, but by tweaking the project slightly you can make it pop out.

    here is the sample movie:

    http://www.malagold.co.za/ComplexPopcorn-320.mov (It’s only 660Kb)

    Does this help?

    Thanks,
    Derrick

  • stefan,

I think a plug in might not be your only answer.

Use the color corrector, then get all the white balance the same, use curves *Try an S-Shaped Curve to help contrast), and levels to make all your footage exposure, etc… look the same across scenes.

When your done with that, get creative with the color corrector and create a look for yourself.

Regarding motion, something like Magic Bullet, or check film effects from http://www.nattress.com (I’m not sure if this is PC and MAC) haven’t used it, but it is very affordable.

Then you gotta pay lots of attention to ligthing and CAMERA MOVES, dollies, cranes, etc… help a lot to create a film look. check out https://www.hollywoodcamerawork.us/ that teaches a lot about the subject.

I want to get this product as soon as I can afford it! Living in South Africa does make USA Dollar products very expensive!

Anyway, hopes this help you a bit?

    Thanks,
    Derrick

December 20, 2005 at 2:01 pm in reply to: your opinion of the best tutorial book for audio

    three options:

Total Training, Total Training, and um, Total training.

But be careful. Books and training DVD’s teach you how the software works, not “AND THIS IS HOW HOLLYWOOOD MAKES THE VOCALS SOUND LIKE MOVIE” or “THIS IS HOW HOLLYWOOD ACHIEVES THIS SOUND EFFECT.”

    This said:

Jay Rose has two incredible books on Audio that is not related to a specific program, but can be applied to all prof. Audio program which Adobe Audition is!

check his website, http://www.dplay.com. If you buy the books through the links on his page from amazon, he get’s a extra cut. And he’s a very nice guy, and a sound guru!

    Hope this helps !

    Hi, Adrian

Here is a link to a book that I’ve got, it’s got an example of how to make out of static images, a bowl where popcorn pops out like in a popcorn maker, I think exactly the effect you want to achieve?

let me know if I must upload a sample of the finished version of the effect if you want?

    the book:
After Effects and Photoshop: Animation and Production Effects for DV and Film

    the link:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0782143172/ref=pd_qpt_gw_3/102-1767054-9340919?n=283155

Click “Search inside this book, and look in the table of contents, Chapter 4.

let me know if this helps.

    Thanks,
