September 18, 2014 at 4:37 pm in reply to: Tracking a moving object and adding magnify effectI actually told you slightly wrong. Try this: (just whipped it up and AE and it works). Use an adjustment layer, and apply the effect “Magnify”, make the size what you want and position it using the “center” information. Next, parent the “Center” info to the null object’s position and it should follow.
Sorry about the initial wrong response.

September 18, 2014 at 3:57 pm in reply to: Color shift on logo between Illustrator RGB eps and AE avi with alpha exportInstead of using the EPS file, try to import the .psd or .ai document into after effects/premiere directly. They are meant to work in tandem with each other, and that may solve your color shift issues.

Firstly, wouldn’t changing the BPM from 145 – 160 actually shorten the length of the song (unless you used a completely different song or added to the original). So really the math should be flipped 145/160 (original divided by the new value) to get .90625 or just a little over a minute? (I’m assuming you were going by time code standards 1min:07sec:14frames)
In any case, assuming the video clips have enough footage to lengthen them out, then be sure to go into your composition settings and adjust your duration there. If you have made precomps, you’ll likely need to adjust those separately. After that it is just highlight and drag the edges out (which you would need to also do for each separate precomp).
However, if you are literally trying to adjust clips that are finite, you will not be able to increase the duration of the video without a time stretch or by lowering the frame rate of the comp. Example: 30 fps video track could be stretched for twice as long over a 15fps comp, or stretch to be 15fps over a 30 fps comp. You cannot increase footage that isn’t there.
Hope that is what you needed.

a quick way to do this in AE is to use a distortion map. Have your main footage in a comp, and add a video glitch that you can find on youtube or any other source. If the size is incorrect, scale accordingly, and then precomp. Then add an adjustment layer, and apply “distortion map” and set the map to be the glitched video layer. You can then adjust the level of distortion with the values in the effect, can keyframe it, or if you want to do an interspersed glitch effect, cut the adjustment map and put each cut where you want it. You could also adjust opacity with keyframes to change the strength of the effect. This method will glitch everything below the adjustment layer. If you want to just glitch 1 layer and not a background follow the same method with a duplicated subject, or put the distortion map effect on the main footage directly and keyframe the effect’s values. Hope that helps.

September 14, 2014 at 1:16 am in reply to: Creating particles that animate on a path.Though this project is probably gone, I would look in to the plugin newton. Basically it is a 2D physics engine, so with some carefull building im sure you could get the particles to follow a specific path.

Use your multi-views so you can see the scene from front, right, top and active cameras. You can activate multi-view from the “Active Camera” drop down box.
This should help you get a better feel of the 3d space.

Press and hold “Y” until you click and drag your anchor point. Next hold command or control to enable snapping. Give that a try to see if it works.

Changing the opacity can cause banding issues, so without seeing settings or images, that is probably what I would nix. Instead of choosing such a dark solid maybe try a lighter gray. Another technique would be to use a blur on an unfeathered edge and increase the blurriness to increase the feather. Box blur is probably best, as you can repeat the edge pixels. I don’t know if that solves your problems, but let me know if I can provide any other ideas or advise.
