I’ve considered using MM, but with how broken it was in FCP5, I’ve never actually tried using it since 6 came out. Usually I’m only needing a handful of pics, and can just usb drive them over (or drop box via the network) to where I need them.

just save a copy of the project file onto the external drive (file–>save project as). Take the drive to the post house and you’ll be good to go. But, make absolutely sure that you have transferred ALL the media to the external drive….this includes still images, background/graphics from a third party, etc. Too often do I use still images that are saved to a folder on my desktop and forget to grab them when moving my drive to a different machine.
It should be noted, if they are using a newer version of FCP, you won’t be able to open the project on your older system….this isn’t microsoft word.

had something like this happen about a year ago w/ DVD SP. Don’t remember how it got fixed. As an alternative, though, I map my expose keys to the command, option, and control on the right, so if I need something on my desktop, I just fly out the windows, click+hold, and fly the windows back in.

I don’t see anything wrong, for being a screenshot of the canvas…Have you looked at this on an NTSC monitor? Bet it looks just fine there.

another useful tool, in the same vein, is the slip tool. it will slide the in and outs of the clip simultaneously, while maintaining the clip’s length and not affecting the clips around it.

Sometimes FCP just can’t find the folder w/ the automated system. You’ll have to navigate to it directly, or re-render

My guess? The psd was likely created in windows. You need to open it on a mac, resave it, and then import THAT file into FCP.

Richard Harrington’s exposure tutorial will give you a good primer on using the limit effect. Once you’re happy with the matte, push the color dials around until you get the color you want.
