I myself have no Macs newer than 2012. Such Macs can be bought very cheaply now — I bought a beautiful Mac Pro 5,1 for €311 — to run Sierra, thus Final Cut Pro 7. According to macworld.com/article/673697 Sierra runs on various 2013-2017 Macs, but none newer. You do not have to consider whether FCP7 will run on Sierra on this or that Mac, simply whether Sierra will run on it.

I can’t see why that wouldn’t work. You might have to set the system clock back several years while installing. Be sure to pre-install QuickTime 7.6.

I agree with Devrim. Example: when Retroactive is used to install FCP 7 on High Sierra and above, Compressor 3.5 does not get installed. But FCP 7 must connect with Compressor 3.5 in order to make Blu-rays.

I’m not sure Dixon needs to obtain another Mac. If the firmware on his present Mac isn’t too high he can boot it from an external hard drive on which there is a sub-High Sierra volume with FCP 7 installed on that.

I still use FCP 7.0.3 almost exclusively. What can’t it do? Recently it disappointed by its inability to reognize that a .mov file was in BT.2020 color space.

It’s unclear what you need. Do you already have FCP 7.0 installed and need PROAPPLICATIONSUPDATE2010-02 which updates it to FCP 7.0.3. I can send you that .dmg (324.8 MB).
